Mr. and Mrs. Walters

This weekend we went to Utah for our dear friend Ashley's wedding!  (as well as to offer love and support to Keri & family)  So exciting to be a part of the big day ... and we wanted to wish her and Brady love and happiness always!  Here are a few of the highlights

CSAW

A few weeks ago we took our Girl Scout Troop to CSAW for the first time (aka  Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Weekend.)   I don't have many pictures because they put the leaders to work!  I was in charge of running 3 stations (hair bling = making flowers for hair clips) as well as keeping track of our girls and our troops kapers.  The girls had a great time though.  The thing they loved most was getting to choose 4 workshops (out of a big list of options) to attend.  They all picked different things according to their interests - and all of them were am amazing, well run and fun.  Susie's 4 were the Marine Mammal Center Field Trip, Friendship Bracelet Making, Zumba and Hair Bling.

Some of the Hair Bling creations!
My workshop assistant Miss Jennifer!  She was in charge of all the orders that were placed by leaders teaching other workshops :)

First Job

This past spring Ben got his referee license to be able to get a job as a referee for youth soccer.  It is perfect for him and he is loving the paychecks!   Much to his dismay I popped over to one of his games and got a photo of him at work!

They hatched!

So exciting!  The chicks at Sam's Preschool hatched.  I think 14 of the little guys, so cute!

Sam calls this little guy "superman-batman"

I know CPR ...

After years and years of CPR classes for life guarding and nursing I finally had a chance to use my skills (outside of the hospital, that is).
It happened on Tuesday when I was outside picking up our yard, doing a little weeding, and pooper-scooping ...
All of the sudden I heard a plop!  I looked over and my iPhone had fallen into the pool!  GASP!  (I swear our pool attracts all of my phones)  It happened to be on a step, so I quickly grabbed it out ... took off all the cases ... and frantically dried it off ... all of my CPR training had not covered how to remove the SIM card, so I had to do a quick Google search :) and then removed it ...
at this point my phone was still on!  So I continued my resuscitation efforts.  I got my hairdryer and tried to dry things off that way and finally I stuffed the whole thing into a bag of rice!

Several hours later the phone was still working except the keyboard sounds and phone speaker ... so back into the bag of rice it went.
Later that night it was working completely ... I had saved my iPhone from certain death!  (Ben even took it apart later to check for condensation and all was good, the water damage indicators had not even been triggered).  Impressive, I know :)

Who Knew?

Sam has been setting up obstacle courses and jumping over couches, ottomans, chairs, pillows, cushions ... ever since he could walk!  Who knew it was a sport?  Yes a sport called Parkour!  Several weeks ago the place he has been taking gymnastics at recommended he try their Parkour I class - so we did.  Right after the class they transferred him up to Parkour II ... because, I'm telling you, he was born for this!!  Now they are talking about making a Parkour III class :)
Parkour is a method of movement focused on moving around obstacles with speed and efficiency. Originally developed in France, the main purpose of the discipline is to teach participants how to move through their environment by vaulting, rolling, running, climbing and jumping.
Now we know!

Here he is in action from today's class:
