Crafty Girls

Over the weekend I hosted a Girls Craft Night and we created the darling wreath that the girls from eighteen25.blogspot  posted earlier this month  (seriously .... so many fun crafts out there on the blogs).   We had a fun time chatting and crafting and I love, love, love, my new wreath!

It took 127 3-inch felt circles!
The Girls
* a few ladies had already left

( another craft option was this cute banner that I found here! )

Only one store in our area even carried the styrofoam heart wreath (which I found out after I had planned and invited people to the craft night!)  ... and my sister reported that the stores in her area (Utah) were sold out!

Have you made this yet?

A Life lesson

Yesterday Ben decided that it was time for Sam to learn how to make ...
CiNNaMoN SuGaR!
Yes, it's true.  This is an important skill!
So Ben collected a few things and sat Sam down for the lesson ...

A bowl of SuGaR
A few shakes of CiNNaMoN

Stirring together {this is serious business}

Proudly turning over the spoon to his student.

So cute ... even though I was cringing a little bit about what kind of mess they might make ;)  Ben is quite the baker in our house - we all LoVe the CiNNaMoN RoLLS he makes on Sundays - the mess afterwards is something we are still working on :)

Moving On!

The Strike played the first round of ASSoCiaTioN CuP this weekend and won both games so they are moving on!

It was very cold this weekend so notice the oRaNGe GLoVeS -  although I think underarmor would have been a good option (I'm just saying ...)
 Coach Jeff

We have been so thankful for the time and effort that coaches Jeff and Cam have put into this team (and each player).  Playing with the 49er Strike this season has been a great experience!

Rainbow Bear

Sam has a visitor from pre-school this week ... RainBoW BeaR!
He has been with him at all times ...  making friends with Sam's other stuffed animals, snugging with him, sitting with Gus and watching him play Wii Resort, going on errands to Target, orthodontist appointments and picking up kids and having sleepovers with him!

A Walk Through the American Revolution

This is one of my favorite things that Coyote Ridge Elementary brings to the kids - It is an interactive history lesson that is really unbelievable.  Susie's role was Thomas Jefferson, and she had a lot of lines and some right out of the Declaration of Independence (so they were a bit tough) - but she did a super job and had a great experience!

 Thomas Jefferson
(notice the great wig I made the night before when Susie had a little melt down that her costume wasn't good enough - the magic of cotton balls and a glue gun!)

 Her big speech
The creators of the Declaration of Independence

 The Valley Forge Battle scene

All her friends in costume!

One Little Word

I have heard of this idea over the years ... and have never taken the time to really think about it.   So as I start this new year I thought I would have one little word.
and it is ...

order

{coincidently, I asked Steve what word he would choose (before telling him mine, of course), and he said 'order' as well - so it will be both of our words}

Not only do I want to strive for it , but it is found in my favorite scripture:

"Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing;
and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a
house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning,
a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God."

Happy New Year!

We had fun bringing in the New Year with our cousins/family.  We had our dinner (Grandpa's Fried Chicken - yum!) , many rounds of BINGO (it gets competitive because $5 target coins are at stake!) and confetti poppers!

Now we are back home in Roseville ready to begin a New Year!
