The last couple of weeks have been fun and busy.  Grandma was visiting so of course we squeezed a lot of extra projects into our already crazy schedule!  Here's what we did ...

Celebrated Grandma's Birthday,
Attended Junior Jam with Susie Troop,
Painted 19 Field Trip T-Shirts for Sam's Preschool Class,
1 Orthodontist Appointment,
Shopped with Connie for her upcoming Cruise,
Worked some more on Ben's Eagle Project,
2 Cross-Country Meets,
Learned to Make Grandma Day's Fudge,

2 Soccer Games,
DUP (Daughter's of the Utah Pioneers) Innvitations for Connie's Upcoming Meeting,
Susie Received a Student of the Month Award,
Sam's Field Trip to the Safety Fair,
and
66 Scrapbook Pages

No wonder I am a little tired ... but I am moving on to my big organization project (more on that later)!

Cross Country Begins

This Hobbling,
Puking,
Wart Infested (6 plantar warts - OUCH!),
BOY ...
ran the mile and a half in 10:33 - 6th place on his team!
I don't know how he does it ... and then goes to soccer practice and then gets up to do it all over and over.
His motto is: 'Suck it UP'  and so he plays and runs despite his pain.
We hope he feels better soon, too.

Let's Celebrate!

Grandma came to town to visit and we are so excited she is here to spend time us! It was her birthday last week so we had a little party for her ... complete with a beautiful and yummy cake and present [a project life kit so that she can document all of her fun adventures on the Mediterranean cruise she and my dad are going on in October!]

Happy Birthday!  We Love You.

New Zealand Mudsnails BEWARE!

For his Eagle Project, Ben has been working with the U.S. Forest Service and Trout Unlimited to help STOP the spread the New Zealand Mudsnails.  [*more info. on that below.]

The New Zealand mud snail has no natural predators or parasites in the United States, and consequently has become an invasive species, endangering the food chain by outcompeting native snails and water insects for food, leading to sharp declines in the native populations.

Fish populations then suffer because the native snails and insects are their main food source.

The mud snails are impressively resilient. A snail can live for 24 hours without water. They can however survive for up to 50 days on a damp surface, giving them ample time to be transferred from one body of water to another on fishing gear. The snails may even survive passing through the digestive system of a fish.

Mud snails have now spread from Idaho to most western states of the U.S., including Wyoming, California, Oregon, and Montana. Environmental officials for these states have attempted to slow the spread of the snail by advising the public to keep an eye out for the snails, and bleach or heat any gear which may contain the mud snails. Rivers have also been temporarily closed to fishing to avoid anglers spreading the snails.

Laugh and Learn Preschool

Sam was so excited to start preschool this week!
He has been asking if it was his day to go to school ever since Ben and Susie started ...  and the day finally came!  He loves Miss Christi and Miss Kiersten and is so happy that his friend Brody is going to be in his class this year!  Now he wants to carpool and then he will be just like the big kids!

a spikey hair-do!
and his bucket packed with a snack and Buzz-Lightyear for show and tell!
